What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter.com is an online platform that gives innovative companies the chance to launch new and exciting products through the help of crowdfunding. This allows you - and everyone else - to buy and therefore support the launch of the 1971 Swiss Made collection. When purchasing a watch from the 1971 Swiss Made collection through Kickstarter, you will only be charged and have the watch delivered if the goal of the Kickstarter is reached. If the goal, set by us, isn’t reached by a certain date, no money will be charged. If, however, the goal is reached, the watch collection will go into production and will be delivered and thus you will be charged.

Why do you use Kickstarter?

Even though Kickstarter is mostly used by startup companies, more and more established companies have started using the platform for new releases. For us, the 1971 is our first Swiss Made collection, this mean we had to partner up with a new factory in Switzerland with over 50 years of expertise. To combine a swiss made movement, high quality materials and design and still keep a reasonable price level requires production volume - Enter Kickstarter. Through Kickstarters well known platform we have the option to let our customer ramp up the volume before production starts. This way we optimize production prize, which lets us make a high-end swiss made watch, but at an affordable retail price. The customers then have to wait for the production to be finished (in november), but is compensated with a discount on the future retail price. When the campaign is over and the production is ready the collection will only be available at its full retail price.
